An SMDP export lists every dispense from your own on-site tank — driver identification, quantity, date and time. It's complete, but it's also just a list — nothing on the export itself ties a dispense back to a vehicle's actual mileage, confirms it went into the right vehicle's tank, or flags a driver identifying at the pump for a vehicle that isn't theirs.

What checking it by hand misses

Scrolling through rows from a private depot, a fleet office can catch the obviously wrong ones — a dispense way outside the usual pattern. What it reliably misses: fuel dispensed against the wrong vehicle, a duplicate driver identification, or a dispense with no matching change in that vehicle's own tank level.
